Breakout Session One - 10:30 am – 11:15 am

Is Busy Better? The over glorification of being busy.

Whether you are a daughter, wife, executive, or combination of many categories…if you are a women you are busy. Although being busy is part of life, has it now turned into our whole life? This session explores different perspectives of being busy, the roles of women and how we can use it to our advantage.

What's new under the sun? Skin cancer prevention and sun protection in 2019.

Topics of discussion will include how to recognize the most common types of skin cancers, when to be seen by a physician, and how to practically and safely protect yourself from the damages of UV exposure.

Is organic food worth the cost?

If you believed everything you read about conventional versus organic food on the internet, you’d think this was the most important cause of ill health. Although organic food is now found in most grocery stores, it is more expensive. This creates a dilemma for most of us. Which should we choose? What are the facts? The word “organic” describes the way agricultural products are grown and processed and these practices must comply with strict government standards. So, are there benefits to eating organic foods? Are organic foods more nutritious and do they prevent cancer? Do they contain more protective substances and less synthetic chemical residues, antibiotics, hormones and toxic substances? Or, are they only better for the environment? If it is not feasible to use only organically grown foods, which are the most important foods to buy organic?

The 5 Dimensions of Women’s Health and Wellness

The objectives are to discuss the dimensions of health and wellness including the emotional, physical, social, spiritual and intellectual. The whole person will be emphasized, and how to make choices toward a healthy lifestyle. Wellness will be discussed as a conscious and self-directed process. Women will be encouraged to take preventative steps toward wellness, and learn how to promote wellness among their family and friends.

Learn about everyday foods, seasonings and substances in plants that help to reduce cancer risk, heart disease, inflammation and more.

How to Eat Fat to get Thin

Sounds impossible doesn’t it? A lot of the new diets and weight loss plans incorporate a ketogenic diet that includes fat for optimum weight loss. Far healthier than the Atkins and Atkins-like diets of the past, this includes healthy fats and uses fat for fuel to help your body burn calories more efficiently and achieve optimum weight loss.

This session aims to discuss the cognitive behavioral model as it relates to couples and having healthy relationships and will also cover the “5 secrets of effective communication”.

Exploring Anxiety

Dr. Pereau will discuss anxiety, distress tolerance, and Meyer's briggs typology. Additionally, this session will explore treatment options for anxiety, ranging from self help, meditation and therapy to meds.

It’s a part of the body most of us don’t talk about and yet many of us could benefit from available treatment options.
