The LLU Humanities Program presents a theatrical production of a new docudrama titled Year One: Through the Eyes of Family Medicine, written by playwright, director, and actor, Brady Greer Huffman. Huffman and Anatomy Professor, Kenneth R. Wright (with the addition of Technical Director, Otinelis Iancu, in 2017) have led two thought-provoking theatrical productions for the Humanities Program every year since 2013.

Performances will take place Saturday, November, 4 and 11 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, November 5 and 12 at 2pm in the Damazo Amphitheater located in the Centennial Complex on the Loma Linda University Campus. A talkback to discuss the play’s themes and to reflect on the impact of the pandemic will be held following the Saturday, November 11 performance. Admission is free.

Written as Huffman’s M.F.A. Playwright submission, Year One: Through the Eyes of Family Medicine is a docudrama formed from interviews with real family medicine physicians regarding the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. The story captures the heroic and traumatizing experience of eleven real physicians as they struggle to serve their patient population while fighting against the national backlash caused by a government that failed to take the pandemic seriously. At times painfully raw, Year One offers a deeply unique glimpse into the extraordinary pressures these doctors faced in the hospital, the clinic, and the home during a rare time in history.
