The full-day seminar is intended to demystify the proposal writing
process and encourage potential PIs to write winning SBIR/STTR proposals.
Specifically, the seminar will address (1) the elements of an SBIR/STTR
proposal (for all agencies), including a logical progression of the 6 premises
that must be argued to convince agency reviewers to fund the proposal; (2) the
three distinct ways in which faculty members can take advantage of the
SBIR/STTR program; and (3) the most common writing mistakes made by scientists
and engineers, and how to avoid making them. Dr. Berger will edit the
one-page “Elevator Pitches” for the first dozen attendees that submit the a
Pre-Seminar assignment, and the edited documents – based on concepts presented
in the seminar – will be returned to the authors.
