From Rejection to Mobilization: Discrimination, Identity, and Collective Action among Muslim Americans

Join the PRACTICenter Connections research series for a presentation by Dr. Qais Alemi, Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Ecology. Using survey data from Muslims in the United States, this study explores whether discrimination pushes individuals away from or pulls them toward their religious and national identities as a way of coping with social rejection. It also considers how these identities are linked to participation in collective efforts to improve the status of Muslims. Attend in person at the PRACTICenter (lunch provided) or join via Zoom.
