Mindfulness with SBH

Hi, LLUH community! During these uncertain times, we are all finding new and creative ways of coping with our day-to-day life. As part of a community effort to support one another, the School of Behavioral Health and the Department of Psychology are providing open mindfulness drop-in groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 - 11:15AM!

Group leaders will be teaching and leading mindfulness-based relaxation practices that have been scientifically proven to support resilience and reduce stress! Each 15-minute session will include a brief introduction followed by a guided mindfulness practice. Group leaders will also be available for 15 minutes after the conclusion of the practice for a guided discussion about the day’s session and to support any questions participants may have.

These support groups do not constitute psychotherapy, nor are they part of a manualized Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction class. Practice sessions will be recorded and made available for later viewing. Guided discussions will not be recorded and, while we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of participants' comments and participation in this portion of the group, we encourage all participants to exercise restraint and respect of others’ privacy when outside of the group.

We understand that participants will have a wide variety of life circumstances and experiences resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope to provide a broad base of relaxation skills and applications that are useful for everyone. Please feel free to join us in any way that fits your life at this time!
